ok.. slowly.. step by step.
firstly. would like to thank each and everybody for all their well wishes and especially those who turned up to send me off. thank you thank you thank you very much.
ok firstly.. 12 freaking hours on the plane is simply. disgusting. ya.. really.. next time when u guys gotta travel, ppl, be smarter.. NEVER EVER TAKE LIKE 12 FREAKING HOURS OF PLANE RIDE. really. ur butts will simply rot, drop off and die.. like.. ya.. and to add to that torture.. i was sitting in the centre.. so like its rather hard for me to like actually leave my seat to go to the bathroom and all.. so basically for the entire freaking12 hours.. my ass was stuck to the seat. o.O torturous i tell u.. u cant sleep properly.. u cant sit properly (too many stuff around i.e. ur bag, laptop bag, pillow, blanket) really.. its a nightmare.
so basically i managed to survive that. barely. but ya.. still up and alive. so ya.. stopover at london. nice cool weather.. tranferred from one terminal to another.. managed to walk around w/o any jackets on.. (yayness anus!)
yup.. so after tt change flight to stockholm sweden.
met this girl (who sat next to me on the long unearthly plane ride to london) while waiting at the gate area. apparently it turned out that she's an ex-NTU materials engineering student doing her masters in stockholm and she has a russian (or some other exotic foreign country) bf.
oh and the checkin in london was like cool.. u have to take off ur shoes, ur belts, ur coats.. basically everything other than like ur shirt and pants. ya. so then.. went to stockholm where this girl , jovice, brought me along with her to take the arlanda express train to like central stockholm where everything is...
see the this is.. the airport where i landed in stockholm, its arlanda.. so apparently its like the outskirts or somewhere further in stockholm and its really really ulu.. like only trees trees and more trees and in the middle of the trees u see one small cottage.. its really cool but i was too hum ji to take out my camera to snap a picture of it cus the instructions while landing was "switch off all electronic and communications devices" so ya.. heee.. too hum ji..
so then.. took went to the underground train station.
yupp so above are the pictures of the underground tunnel.. and apparently if u look closely u can see that the walls of this tunnel is actually very uneven and is made of gravel? probably or something of that sort cus apparently it was bombed open like eons ago and it doubles up as a bomb shelter so ya.. coolios...
and of course.. all the underground tunnels in stockholm are being bombed open (or however u phrased it) and so the walls are all similar.
so took the train. which costs 110sek (22 bucks? thereabout) and the went to central stockholm.
ok ppl, for the sake of my sanity, i will prolly post the bare minimal photos here cus uploading photos onto blogspot is really really long and i'll really go mad waiting.. so ya and also prolyl lose my train of thoughts.. so please help urselves to the photos at facebook and also feel free to check out similar photos uploaded by the fellow ntu-ers (fyi, they are called idza, wan teng and denise) so can like go click here click there and prolly land upon the photos they've uploaded.
so ya..stockholm. temperature when i reached was around 3-5 degrees? it was okie.. but when the wind comes u really feel like dying. like its the wind that's the killer not the chill nor the temperature. cus the chill is just like "oo cold" then u kinda adjusted to it.. then so u are like walking and u chanced upon a gust of wind u go like "oooo... *shivers shivers*" kinda thing? ya..
so then apparently sweden in general, is really qte a green country with all the recycling bins around. and its really qte flat comparatively to singapore. as you guys are able to see from the photos the buildings are qte old and beautiful andthey actually have like cycling tracks for cyclists.. so like cycling is one of their main form of transportation too...
loads of their buildings are rather majestic looking and they are still in used (for like museums, or like some international conference crap kinda thing and im really sounding like a tour guide) and cus stockholm is prolly made up of qte a no. of islands like an archipelago of sorts.. so like there are like rivers and stuff.. and its really near the sea. so like the currents at their rivers (or canals as they called it) are like really fast and its like kinda for white water rafting kinda shit so ya.
so basically first day, i left my stuff at the city backpackers hostel (not bad, qte pretty, clean though qte small) and went to check out the old town gamla stan. apparently the inner state of stockholm is rather small so its within like walking distance so we (me, idza and wanteng) walked there.
so apparently one of the attractions of gamla stan (or probably even stockholm) is that they have rows and rows of buildings but of different colours (check out the pictures) and that they are qte old of age.. ya..
streets were long and winding, some even uphill and have like small alleys and stuff.. real pretty.. then the roads were like cobblestone so was kinda like beauty and the beast the beginning part where beauty was walking around the town singing.. haaa.. nicee~
qte a no. of stores sold like figurines and stuff.. and also chocolates.. was kinda desperate to try hot chocolate on the first day (dunnoe which idiot told me go europe no milo they only drank hot chocolate and that their hot chocolate was like wayy nicer than singapore's -.-) but didnt managed too cus 1) was qte ex and 2) couldnt find any stores that sold.
so then the stores their decorations are like ups mans.. really.. like PRETTY to the max.. they have like boards along the sidewalks, their windows were like nicely done up and like statues were qte a common sight there. then also the ppl there.. they have this fetish for lights. im serious. like they have lights everywhere.. outside their doors, in restaurants (to the extent that some restaurants were fully lighted by candles and candles alone) ya.. they reallly REALLY loved lights..
so then there's loads of alleys and stuff.. and apparently there's the narrowest street in gamla stan.. bout like 90 cm wide? but apparently i din manage to see that..
so then after wandering around gamla stan, decided to go back to the hostel as it was beginning to turn dark.
as you can probably see from the assortments of photos.. some ventures only consists of a few pictures snapped at the beginning cus like after tt it was too damn bloody cold to take out the camera.. aha.
so then went back to the hostel, popped by a nearby supermarket to like buy groceries for the next day's breakfast. and cus we put the groceries in the fridge, we are supposed to label them (so that others wont take our groceries for theirs). bot kebab for dinner (i refused to buy subway cus it was too boring and stupid to eat subway in sweden when u can geta perfectly good one in sg and at a cheaper price too)
so then only managed to finish half the kebab and so the other haolf was left for the next day. (and btw it was perfectly fine cus the weather's too cold for the food to turn bad)
slept damn bloody early for the first night cus partly it was too damn cold to go out and also cus there was nowhere to go (the other girls dun wanna go to the pubs and clubs and stuff) and so ya. but mainly cus it was too damn cold and dark.
so then the next day, i woke up at freaking 5 plus in the bloody morning. went to use one of the comps provided and then after that ended up playing cards. apparently their cards were so damn cool the have like kn (sort form for knight) in place of the jacks and d (for dame) in place of the queens and their aces were actually "e". so initially me and wanteng (who was also up) were like trying to figure out what the hell all those weird letters meant. aha..
so then this cute irish guy called keane saw us playing cards and came over to join us (cus he couldnt sleep) so then taught him daidee. pity of all pities, i didnt take a picture of (or with) him nor did i exchange contact.. so ya.. sad sad.. he taught me a card trick though.. aha..
ok so then we cooked breakfast. pasta (cus the hostel provided free pasta) but then we cooked too much and also there were nothing in the paste so kinda like bleah~ so ya.. but oh wells.. budget living and thank god for half my kebab.. aha..
so then we took this winter cruise thing around stockholm. pretty cool. nice and windy.. drank their "traditional pea soup with pork" which actually tasted some sort like green bean soup boiled till the point of being all mashed up? with pork. aha.. and tried their "hot spicy wine" which was not bad. couldnt really taste the alcohol in it and its made of raisins and almonds. yups.
saw this really cool advertisement on the streets
aha.. misleading right.. at first i really really thought it meant bras for rental. but apparently, only today during my swedish class, did i realised that bra actually meant good. so it's like good rental.. aha.. totally misleading mans...
so then near the reivers and stuff they actually have this area whereby they place feeds for the birds (swans and ducks and pigeons) so like that entire part of the river was swarm by all these pretty feather creatures.. real nice like so many swans up close.. and the ducks.. seriously when they are not busy eating or bathing (real cute when they did it), they basically just sat on their fat little asses and like go with the flow (of the current) real cute.. its like the swans, they actually bothered to paddle around and move around, but the ducks? noooo... they just bobbed up and down and up and down. what a nice life. my next life? i wanna be a duck! hee
so then we were like walking around and all the cars that we saw were all covered with frost.. so kinda dirty looking.. its like those mercedes and mini coopers.. were all like dusty and firty looking.. felt qte sad for the car owners.. aha
so then on the cruise. the open area, the seats were lined with reindeer skins..
so then on the cruise we were just going around and the guide was pointing out all the sights and places around. so then there's this statue,

apparently it was a gift from sweden tothe united nations upon them joining UN. its apparently of a guy throwing stars up into the sky (i THINK should be throwing ba.. otherwise its touching but i tink its throwing) so then for the life of me i couldnt remember what that really means but then apparently it has some religious connotations and hence was rejected by the UN. so TADAH! here it is in stockholm sweden.
oh then also (seriously im just scrolling thru my photos and see whether there's anything to tell about it aha) there tis mill thingy.
apparently the people there realised that but turning at the roof its more efficient so then the spokes are on the roof and hence they do without the wind thingy cus apparently it inhibits the efficiency or something like tt...
oh and their cranes are really cute (painted in such a way that it looks like giraffe) and they are really qte proud of their vessels (some viking history of some sorts so ya) all sorts of boats, ships were on display for viewing and there's an actual palace where the actual royalties lived.. like COOL OR WHAT?! so ya then the royal family have their own like holiday palaces and the actual palace and god knows what else.. so quaint rite? machiam like u timetravelled back to like the olden days...*snickers*
so then they have this "aquaria" thingy which is actually a place where they have their rainforest. *gaffaws*
then after that we went shopping *groans* then we went to their like pseudo market? where they sell like their fruits and veges and like gloves and stuff.. prolly their own made products kinda thingy. bot like tomatoes and like some berries.. rocks my socks i tell u.. real good. like u so cant believe it.. hehe...
yup then next morning went back to arlanda and took the flight to lulea.
on the way to the train station at stockholm. it actually SNOWED!! but then freaking hell.. we were in"some sort" of a rush so didnt stop for long and apparently the camera cant really catch the snowing part so ya...
first sight of snow.. ^^
